Ukraine—Impacts on the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov
DescriptionTwelve-month assessment of the impacts on the marine and coastal environment in the wake of the Russo-Ukrainian War (February 2022–February 2023) on the marine and coastal environment in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov. The core of the map is formed by the signatures indicating damage to infrastructure and settlement areas, divided into the following sectors:
- Heavy industry
- Power generation
- Food industry and agriculture
- Water, sewerage, fuel supply
- Transport
- Damaged or sunk ships
There is also additional information such as sightings of dead or injured whales and dolphins, the impact of military activities on the ecosystem, natural or man-made fires and possible oil spills in the sea. A wealth of background information provides context: oil and gas fields, pipelines, ecologically important areas, the export corridor for grain, fishery and details on the military situation.
